Drive From Swakopmund To Twyfelfontein

The journey from Swakopmund to Twyfelfontein is an exciting adventure in itself, offering a wildlife experience.

After exploring one of the many shipwrecks on the coast and visiting the Cape Cross seals for stunning photographs, we will head inland towards the breathtaking Damaraland. Passing by the Brandberg, Namibia's highest mountain with a peak at 2,573 meters (8,441 feet) above sea level, and catching a glimpse of the iconic Spitzkoppe in the distance, known as "The Matterhorn of Africa".

This picturesque mountainous area is inhabited by a variety of scientifically significant desert-adapted wildlife such as elephants, rhinos, zebras, and lions, thriving in this seemingly inhospitable terrain. Witnessing them would be a special treat!

Damaraland is renowned for its significant geological formations that should not be missed, including the unique "organ pipes" formation (dolerite pillars exposed by erosion), the ancient "petrified forest" dating back over 200 million years, and the famous "burnt mountain" (a flat-topped mountain with blackened limestone deposits at its base). We will explore some of these locations this afternoon.

We will arrive at our lodge in time to enjoy a sundowner drink, taking in the magnificent view of this rugged yet stunning landscape.
